How to Perform an Inspection Pass in The Sims 4: For Rent

To perform an inspection pass on your rental unit, visit a property you own, enter the home, and select any breakable object to find the “do inspection and maintenance” option. Choose this to have your character check and repair the appliance, making your tenants happier and fixing it if it’s broken. You can do this with showers, sinks, ovens, and fridges, among other objects.

If you’re attempting to complete the Five-Star Property Owner aspiration, this option will immediately complete the inspection pass objective. It’s part of the first milestone section, property pupil, and is one of three tasks to complete before moving on to the second of four phases. Be prepared to perform more of these passes, as they’ll become a regular part of your Sim’s landlord routine.

Otherwise, if you want to be a good property owner, you’ll have to regularly do this to make sure your tenants’ appliances are in good shape. Outside of aspirations, tenants often break their appliances or make them dirty, so checking up on them will help you stay on top of this before they start complaining. It also helps keep your unit rating up, allowing you to charge more for rent.

Similarly, you’ll occasionally encounter maintenance events, which you can sort out by visiting your rental unit and tackling its central issue. This can mean clearing out mold, handling cursed books, and anything else impacting your unit’s quality.
