How Do I Move Objects Up and Down in Sims 4?

The first thing that needs to be done is to, you guessed it, enable cheats to allow you to move the objects:

  1. Type in the command “testingCheats true” to enable cheats.
  2. Bring up the cheat console by pressing CTRL+Shift+C.
  3. Type in “bb.moveobjects” without the (” “).
  4. Hit the Enter key to confirm the command entry.

If successful, you will get the message that the cheat is ON and can be used to do all sorts of things, including moving objects.

After you’ve enabled it, you can move objects up and down within the building menu by pressing 9 or 0 on your keyboard. If necessary (depending on your operating system, etc.) you must hold CTRL OR Shift while pressing 9 or 0 so that this movement action can be taken in the first place, so make sure to try everything out.

To normally move items in Sims 4, you have to enter Build Mode. To enter Build Mode you need to click the big circular button in top-right corner of the screen or simply by pressing F3.

You will be able to move most wall-objects such as paintings, windows, shelves, etc. and objects on the floor such as drawers, beds, rugs and more. Moving items around with the snap-grid can be helpful. However, if you are not enjoying snap-grid, you can hold ALT to be able to edit freely.
