How Can Your Friend Play Split Fiction Using the Friend’s Pass?

If you’ve purchased Split Fiction, you can invite a friend to join you in the game—even if they don’t own it themselves. Here’s how it works:

First, your friend will need to download the Split Fiction Friend’s Pass. This is a free version of the game available on PlayStation 5, Xbox, or Steam. Even though your friend hasn’t bought the game, they can still download the Friend’s Pass and play with you.

Once both of you have downloaded the game (you with the full game and your friend with the Friend’s Pass), launch the game. If you’re both playing on Steam, go to the Play Online option in the main menu. From there, search for your friend’s username and send them an invite.

If one of you isn’t on Steam, you’ll need to connect through EA’s servers. Both of you will need to create an EA Account (if you don’t already have one). The friend who owns the full game will need to host a server, search for their friend’s username, and send an invitation.

Once your friend accepts the invite, you can play Split Fiction together from beginning to end. If you’re on different platforms—like one on PC (Steam) and the other on PlayStation 5—make sure the Crossplay option is enabled in the settings for a smooth connection.

Split Fiction Online & Co-op FAQs

Question: Can two friends play Split Fiction together without PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold?

Answer: No, both players will need active membership of PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold to play the online component of the game together. The game will not allow you to play together online if one of you does not have the required subscription. Of course, this does not apply to the player on the PC version of the game.

Question: Can you play Split Fiction solo from start to finish?

Answer: No, Split Fiction is designed as a cooperative experience. The levels, boss fights, and other gameplay mechanics require two players to work together, whether online or in couch co-op mode. You can’t play the game alone.
