How to Get Watermelons in Solarpunk
What's a bot going to do with Watermelons anyway.
Acquiring Watermelons is the first step to getting your electrical blueprints in Solarpunk. You get your first four Watermelons to trade with the Tradebot to get the Energy Workbench.
Here’s a quick guide showing you where to find the Watermelons early, get the Blueprint, and unlock the Energy Workbench in Solarpunk.
Where to Get Watermelons in Solarpunk

First, if you haven’t built the Dock or researched the map upgrade in the Research Table, you cannot open the map. Do those first, which should be easily achievable with the resources available on the starting island. If you are having trouble getting more Cotton early, you can check this guide first.
Once you have the map and the Airship, you can find the Watermelon in the lonely island to the west of the Traderbot Island, as seen in the image above. Take the Airship and make sure to bring some extra Stones and Wood.
When you reach the island, there is no dock, so you can just park the Airship anywhere on the island, but you have to do it manually. On this island, you’ll only find three Watermelon nodes close together. It is a small island, so you can’t miss it. This gives you 3x Watermelon and 3x Watermelon Seeds.
For the Traderbot trade, you’ll need 4x Watermelon, so you’ll need to plant the seeds to get the fourth one. However, since you are already on this island, there’s a Copper node here. Grab a Pickaxe and mine all the Copper. I suggest farming as many as possible (maybe even 6-7 stacks) before going back so you don’t have to go back here until that stock runs out, which is why you should bring some Stones and Wood (can be turned into Sticks) to craft several Pickaxes to mine the Copper node.
When you are done, go back to your farm and plant the Watermelon Seeds. Wait until you get the fourth and go to the Traderbot immediately to unlock the Energy Workbench. Getting the Energy Workbench will unlock many quality-of-life features, such as the Sprinkler, that will make your farming life easier.
As you progress more, you’ll find more Watermelon spawns on the northeast island. Apart from Watermelon being needed for some trades, you can also eat them and not solely rely on Raspberries for hunger anymore.
