Picking out some great ship weapons in Starfield can be a real pain, especially given the massive amount of options at your disposal. Not only are there several different weapon types that each do something different, but there’s the choice from Class A to Class C, alongside Turret and Auto prefixes. It’s a daunting task, so having a weapon you can rely on could make all the difference. Here’s how to get the Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojector ship weapon in Starfield.

Where to Find the Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojector in Starfield

The Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojector weapon, as the name implies, is unlocked upon becoming a member of the Vanguard. This is done through speaking to Commander Tuala at the MAST tower, located above the ramp leading to the MAST District. Asking him about joining the Vanguard will begin the Supra Et Ultra mission, eventually leading you to become a member of the Vanguard.

Through the start of the following mission Grunt Work, you’ll receive access to some Vanguard supplies. Alongside this are certain Vanguard ship parts, including the Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojector. From there, you can find it by going to any Ship Services Technician, selecting the option “I’d like to view and modify my ships,” and then navigating to the Weapons tab of your main ship’s Ship Builder.

Note:

If it isn’t available in the Weapons section, then you may need to sit down somewhere and wait 24 in-game hours. This will reset the Technician’s shop, opening the weapon for purchase.

Is the Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojector Worth Using in Starfield?

The Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojector is a Particle Beam ship weapon featuring a 6.65 fire rate, 11 hull damage, 11 shield damage, and two max power. While its stats aren’t the most impressive, the fact that it only requires two max ship power means it can be spammed in place of a multi-weapon type setup. Since Particle Beam ship weapons are good against anything, this makes it a monster in combat.

For this article, I decided to goof around with six Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojectors on my recreation of Mass Effect’s Normandy. As someone who’s messed around with the shipbuilder quite a bit, this is some of the most insane damage per second I’ve ever dealt with a ship. It took removing power from other areas, but damn does it ever do a lot.

What Other Ship Weapons Do You Get for Becoming a Vanguard Member?

Other than the Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojector, becoming Vanguard will also grant you access to the Vanguard Tempest CE-13 Missile Launcher, Vanguard Hellfire Autocannon, Vanguard Starseeker Pulse Laser, and Vanguard Ares Particle Cannon. While these aren’t quite as strong as the first weapon, it’s worth giving them a go if you want some extra variety.
