The Sword of Night and Flame in Elden Ring is a solid option for various builds as it scales with Faith, Intelligence, Strength, and Dexterity. It is also possible to get the sword pretty early in the game if you know exactly where to go. The route can be complicated and is not really advisable for people on their first playthrough, however.
Where to find the Sword of Night and Flame
The Sword of Night and Flame can be found at Caria Manor in the northwest of Liurnia of the Lakes. The sword itself can be found by going through the Manor and following the stone path. Players will need to move through an area filled with monstrous hands, and they will then come to the Manor Lower Level Site of Grace.
They can then go outside on some raised stone walkways and take the first left they come to. At the tower, turn left, and then at the next tower, turn right. This will bring you down another walkway with some broken siding.
Now it is time for an awkward jump as you need to run to the ledge then jump to the roof below you. When you land, drop down to the next level with the ladder and the hole in the ceiling.
Go down the ladder, and you will find a chest in the room below. Inside that chest is the Sword of Night Flame. There will be a door that you can open here to return to the main part of the Manor.
How to get to the Sword of Night and Flame in the early game
This is not the easiest route in the world to take without some prior knowledge, but players can get to this sword very early if they wish. Remember that you need Strenght of 12, Dex of 12, Intelligence of 24, and Faith of 24 to use it, so there may not be much point in rushing to it too quickly.
The first thing players need to do is get past Stormveil Castle in the northwest of Limgrave. This can be done in a way that avoids the two boss fights that usually bar the way. Players who head north from Stormhill Shack and pass under the giant bridge will come to a small broken bridge. It is possible to jump off this down onto some rubble and follow a narrow path around the mountain. Eventually, you will come out at the Lake Facing Cliffs Site of Grace.
From there, head to the northwest, following the rocks and cliffs. This is pretty much what we will be doing for the next 5 to 7 minutes of running. Avoid all enemies, and stick to the water as much as possible.
After moving through the Crystalline Woods and past the Sorcerer’s Isle, it is time to take to the land again on the western side. You will find a Site of Grace called the Northern Liurnia Lake Shore, and near that is a map fragment you can grab. Now, continue north until you come to some ruins, and there will be a large arch with a wall in it. Smash the wall to get rid of it, then keep going norther.
You will eventually arrive at the Caria Manor and can refer to the start of this guide to get the Sword of Night and Flame.
