One of the earliest side quests, Fifteen Men on a Dead Man’s Chest, is a bit tricky, but something you can expect going forward in Windrose.
You must find the buried chest, and you only get subtle hints around the area where it is. Here’s a quick guide to find the pirate chest and finish the Fifteen Men on a Dead Man’s Chest quest in Windrose.

Since Windrose is a procedurally-generated game, your map can be a little different. However, the side quest should remain the same and be on the starting island.
Once you are around the Fifteen Men on a Dead Man’s Chest quest area, there are several dead skeletons around. The chest isn’t around the visible area, and you actually need a tool first before anything. Pirates hide their treasure, and for this particular quest, they hid it underground in the middle of all the dead crewmates.
Go to your base and interact with the workbench. Look for the Shovel tool, which requires 3x Copper Ingots and 10x Wood. Craft the Shovel and equip it.
Go to the quest area again and bring out the Shovel. When you bring out the shovel, it has four uses: Weapon, Dig, Raise, and Flatten. Use the dig option by pressing “Z” or “X” and start digging at the center of the dead crew.
You’ll find the buried chest, but be warned. Treasures always have a trap. In this case, interacting with the chest spawns four Drowned enemies. This could be your first encounter with these enemies, and it’ll be tough at this point in the game because you don’t have your proper gear, weapon, and levels yet.
If you are finding it hard to deal with these Drowned enemies, I suggest a hit-and-run tactic. Hit the closest Drowned enemy and immediately start running back. Stamina replenishes fast, so it’ll still be fast when you do this method.
As a reward for finishing the Fifteen Men on a Dead Man’s Chest, you’ll get +50 experience points, 4x Silver Ingots, 5x Guineas, and 2x Pearls.
