Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is full of powerful monsters you can summon to fight by your side, but the Lynel is by far the strongest. The Lynel is an iconic Legend of Zelda enemy known for its strength and ferociousness in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. If you want this scary beast on your side in Echoes of Wisdom, here is how you can tame it.
Where is the Lynel in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom?
The Lynel is lurking in the Eternal Forest at the top of the map in Echoes of Wisdom. The Eternal Forest is akin to the Lost Woods, which is another recurring area in the Legend of Zelda franchise. The Lost Woods teleport you right back to the start if you go the wrong way, so, unlike the other regions that you can approach from any direction, you will need to head through the proper entrance a little ways northeast of Hyrule Castle.
Once you start delving deeper into the woods, you will notice hoof prints on the forest floor. You need to track these prints through the forest to find the Lynel. If you don’t track them in order, the Lynel won’t spawn.
There are eight sets of tracks to follow before you find yourself in the Lynel’s den. You will find the first set of tracks shortly after you enter the forest heading northwest. Follow the tracks in the following order, making sure to only change direction when you hit the next set of prints.
- Follow the tracks west.
2. Follow the tracks west again.
3. Follow the tracks southwest.
4. Follow the tracks southeast.
5. Follow the tracks to the northeast.
6. Follow the tracks east.
7. Follow the tracks north.
8. Follow the tracks to the northeast to find the Lynel’s arena.
How to Defeat the Lynel in Echoes of Wisdom
Once you find yourself face to face with the Lynel, you must prepare for battle. The Lynel is very strong and will defeat the rest of the game’s strongest Echoes in just a few shots. Make sure you keep resummoning your Echoes and switching back to the Swordfighter Form frequently. You will have to work together with your Echoes to win this fight, even if they just serve as a distraction.
The Lynel attacks in a multitude of ways. Firstly, it deals damage while it charges. It also slices you with its massive sword and then has another move akin to Link’s charged sword attack, where the beast swings its blade in a wide circle. This move has a wide reach, so make sure you run away when you notice it charging up.
Continue summoning your Echoes to fight by your side, and try to keep a safe distance between yourself and the Lynel. Rely mainly on long-range weapons like the Bow and Bombs to preserve your hearts! Once you take down the Lynel, approach it and press ZR to learn the Lynel Echo. You will then be able to summon the Lynel to fight for you whenever you want.
The Lynel does cost six Tri-Power to summon, which is more than any other Echo costs, but it is well worth it. You can work your way up to six Tri-Power by completing enough Dungeons and Rifts to get Tri to level nine.
