After going through the first few quests in Roadside Research, you’ll eventually encounter the “buy your first license shop upgrade” quest. If you are like me and got absolutely baffled trying to buy the license, here’s how to get your first license shop upgrade.
Where to Buy the First License Shop Upgrade in Roadside Research
The license upgrade is actually just any upgrade from the upgrade store access in the Alien computer. Go to the back of your shop and interact with the screen. Choose the “Upgrade” app and pick any upgrade.
The cheapest upgrade is the decoration, which unlocks the ATM and boombox for $50, but the most useful one is the drinks upgrade from the Products & Shelving section. This opens up three new drink products to sell, which should get you more profits immediately. Once you buy an upgrade from the shop, the quest should finish immediately.
The next quest teaches you to buy the fridge or other equipment by pressing the “Tab” to enter construction mode. The construction mode is basically a shop as well. You can buy all decorations, shelves, fridges, and other equipment from this page.
While the page is a bit confusing because it only says “Preview,” pressing the preview button is how you buy the furniture, or in this case, the fridge, to finish the next quest.
