How to Get Short Circuit in Starfield

Don't let a Short Circuit keep you from scoring big with this unique weapon!

As its name would suggest, Short Circuit is a laser weapon capable of, well, short-circuiting robots. It’s a unique Solstice that deals relatively minor damage to human enemies but additional damage to robots of all types. As such, it’s a fine sidearm if you’re sure the next dungeon includes those highly annoying robotic dog enemies. Without further ado, here is how to get Short Circuit in Starfield!

You can find Short Circuit in Hopetown in Starfield, from the weapon dealer, Best Defense, just down the path and to the right past the starport. He’s a grumpy individual with so many rules that ooze disdain for those around him, so prepare for a lengthy and annoying conversation before being able to spend any credits.

Thankfully, Short Circuit is relatively cheap. You’ll have to spend approximately 7200 credits to walk away with this robot-killer. This is a steal if you’re the type to collect every unique.

Short Circuit Stats and Details

If you ever wanted a genuine space laser weapon in Starfield, look at Short Circuit. It’s like something out of a cartoon, like Toy Story, but also still nails the aesthetic of Starfield as a whole.

Unfortunately, its stats certainly aren’t the best. It deals moderate damage if you’re facing robots, which is rare across the Settled Systems. But to human enemies? Don’t even think about whipping this one out first!

  • Weapon Type: Laser Pistol
  • Damage Type: Energy
  • Damage: 11
  • Ammunition Type: 1.5 KV LZR Cartridges
  • Magazine Size: 22
  • Fire Rate: 29
  • Range: 32
  • Accuracy: 75.8%
  • Mass: 4.50
  • Value: 7282
  • Mod Slot 1: Long Barrel with Laser Sight
  • Mod Slot 2: Stealth Lasers
  • Mod Slot 3: Overclocked
  • Rare Effect: Disassembler – +20% damage when facing robots.
  • Item ID: 002E7C9C

I’m talking a lot of trash about this laser pistol, but it’s honestly not terrible. If you face many robots and need a viable sidearm, it serves a purpose.

Otherwise, I recommend tracking down something with more oomph, like Keelhauler, which comes from the Crimson Fleet questline!
