The Pawn system is what makes Dragon’s Dogma 2 so unique, and if you want to hire new ones, you need to have some Rift Crystals on hand. This guide will explain how you can collect them and where they should be spent.
Where to Get Rift Crystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2
You can get Rift Crystals by discovering Rift Stones in the open world and looting enemies such as phantoms at night. Discovering Rift Stones will be the most common way of earning Rift Stones as you start exploring the full map around you, but it won’t be an incredible amount earned. Each time you discover a stone and interact with it, you will get 30 Rift Crystals. The rate always remains the same, so later areas won’t net you with a higher number of Crystals at once.
How to Get Rift Crystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2:
- Discover and activate Rift Stones.
- Kill and loot Phantoms at night.
- Have other players hire your Pawn.
When nighttime arrives in Dragon’s Dogma 2, there are some phantoms and undead that will spawn. Phantoms, in particular, have a chance to drop Rift Crystals among other upgrade materials when they are defeated. I recommend searching some of the caves in the Mistlands for a good chance at Rift Crystal loot as you get swarmed by Phantoms that guard tons of chests along the way. Looting isn’t the only way to start getting Crystals though.
Once your own Pawn begins to level up, there is a chance for other players to hire them. The best Pawns that help other Arisen across different Rifts should be able to earn some Rift Crystals as well. After all, the higher-tiered Pawns are going to require tons of Crystals and there needs to be a way to hire them for your own party. However, this won’t be a guaranteed way of earning the currency you want, so in the meantime, keep searching for all the Rift Stones that you can.
When you’ve spent your Rift Crystals, make sure you’re making the most of your Pawns with quests.
