What is a Bunker Spider in Lethal Company

Bunker Spiders are a common enemy type you’ll find in enclosed spaces, and you’ll likely become aware of their presence by the many webs they weave in their nesting area. A Bunker Spider is a horrifyingly large spider, and it does whatever a spider can.

Touch one of its webs and it will ensnare you, alerting the spider and drawing it near. The Bunker Spider is persistent and will chase you for quite a ways once it senses you, but it’s slow to attack and easy to sneak past. You can crouch-walk right by a Bunker Spider without it ever becoming aware of you, as it seems to only sense players through vibrations made by heavy walking, running, and web interaction.

Unfortunately, the only way to get rid of a Bunker Spider in Lethal Company is to kill it. But we’re in luck! Killing Bunker Spiders is easy, even if you’re solo.

Bunker Spider Bestiary Entry

“Bunker spiders, of the genus Theraphosa, are the largest arachnid found in the Thistle Nebula and the second largest ever discovered. It’s believed they evolved to prey on large mammals over the course of a measly several hundred years after the Boat made its trip around the Thistle Nebula. (Refer to: Speculation on Increased Speciation Around the Fading Nebulae)

Bunker spiders produce silk and lay it around their chosen nesting area, then wait for it to be tripped on. They can be seen waiting on walls, often over doorways where prey could enter unaware. If you find a bunker spider ‘unprepared’ it may freeze as a defensive reaction. In this case they are best left alone. If a bunker spider reacts aggressively, it is best not to fight with ordinary tools. They use their webs to make up for their rather slow movement, so take note of your surroundings. Their webs can be broken easily with any blunt tool.

Bunker spiders can pose a great danger to humans and urban explorers especially, without a great benefit to their ecosystems. A resulting kill-on-sight order has been informally agreed upon between many states home to the Bunker spider, and it is currently approved by the ITDA as of 10/6/2497.”

How to Get Rid of Bunker Spiders in Lethal Company

To get rid of the Bunker Spider, you’ll need a shovel or a Stop Sign. Second, you’ll need to locate a railing near the Bunker Spider you can confidently jump on. You’ll need to return to this railing once you’ve triggered the spider, as it’s from this high ground that you’ll beat the Bunker Spider to death.

But first, you’ll need to know the telltale sign of a Bunker Spider. They typically leave webs near their nest, usually on a wall. Don’t step on a web. Doing so will trigger the Bunker Spider, immediately causing it to run to your position. Webs will also slow you down, making it much easier for a Bunker Spider to catch you.

Once you’ve laid your groundwork, approach the Bunker Spider’s lair. Hit a web with a shovel until the web vanishes. Immediately run away. The scurrying noise lets you know that the Bunker Spider is on your trail. If it doesn’t follow you, you may need to approach it again and immediately start running toward the railing once you hear the scurrying.

Jump up onto the railing. From here, the Bunker Spider won’t be able to reach you. Instead, it will stay below you, and you can hit it three to four times with your shovel. Eventually, it will curl up and die.

Other Ways to Kill Spiders in Lethal Company

If you’re having trouble locating a railing or some other object that will get you safely above the spider, you do have another option: stun the spider. You’ll still need a shovel or signpost, but if you have a stun grenade on hand, you can throw it at the spider to momentarily stop it, allowing you to safely get close and whack it to death.

You can also buddy-up and have a teammate use a Zap Gun on the spider for the same stun effect. Once the spider is stunned, you can easily take your shovel to it.

Everything you need can be found in the shop on your ship’s Terminal. Access the Terminal, type “store,” and then the item and quantity you want to purchase. A shovel will cost you 30 credits, a stun grenade costs 40 credits, and a Zap Gun is 400 credits.

And that’s how you get rid of Bunker Spiders in Lethal Company! For more creepy crawlies in Lethal Company, check out how to kill and avoid the Flower Man. He’s very spooky.
