How to Get Pearls of Warding in Diablo 4 Season 3

Risk it for the biscuit.

Diablo 4’s divisive third season is underway, and while the Vaults themselves aren’t a smash hit with players, there is a way to juice up the loot you’ll be granted for completing them: by using a Pearl of Warding.

How to Get Pearls of Warding

Pearls of Warding are dropped by Heralds of Malphas, which can be summoned at special Braziers in the overworld near Arcane Tremors (marked on the map by the green leaf Season symbol). To summon a Herald of Malphas, you’ll need 3 Elemental Cores and 50 Shattered Stone. Shattered Stone is dropped by any Construct enemy, so you should be swimming in the stuff if you spend any reasonable amount of time near the Arcane Tremors.

Once you kill the Herald, it’ll drop a Pearl of Warding, as well as a Governing Stone. Governing Stones allow you Seneschal Construct to use different attacks, while Turning Stones allow you to customize the damage type and other modifiers of these abilities.

How to Find Elemental Cores

Elemental Cores are found in Obelisks, which are found in the Arcane Tremors seasonal overworld event. These obelisks are lousy with traps and other annoying projectiles, so keep your guard up as you approach. You’ll need to interact with the Obelisk for a moment before it’ll release an Elemental Core, after which it will remain active (so keep your distance).

What are Pearls of Warding For?

So what are Pearls of Warding used for? Well, they grant the buff Zoltun’s Warding, which grants increased rewards at the end of the Vault. The catch? If you’re hit by too many of the Vault’s traps, you’ll lose the buff and the rewards. And uh, yeah. Good luck with that.
