How to Get Golden D20 Dice in Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3’s Golden D20 dice are a reward for completing the game’s hardest difficulty, Honour Mode, in its entirety. You’ll receive the dice by finishing BG3 without dying, which you can use in future playthroughs.

However, this is no easy feat. Honour Mode is designed to be more challenging than Tactician and has multiple notable features that make it harder than the rest:

  • Overall, it is more difficult, both in and outside of combat.
  • Single save file—you can’t reload past saves.
  • Over 30 tweaks to boss mechanics, including new abilities and Legendary Actions.
  • Stricter action economy and damage bonus rules, particularly in the end game.

The most challenging part of this challenge is the single save file rule. If at any point you make a peculiar decision, have a low dice roll, or lose a party member, you will not be able to reload your save and retry. Honour Mode makes you accept the consequences of your actions and adapt to your circumstances, regardless of how dire they are.

Furthermore, your Honour Mode playthrough is over if your party is wiped out in a battle. While you can continue playing through Custom Mode, doing this will not count toward finishing Honour Mode, meaning you will not get your dice at the end of the game.

Completing Baldur’s Gate 3’s Honour Mode and receiving your golden D20 dice requires careful planning, extensive game knowledge, and thorough character-build optimization to ensure you can defeat enemies without losing your whole party. You must also be cautious of your surroundings and decisions, as choices matter more than ever in this mode.

Once you complete Honour Mode, you’ll obtain the exclusive golden D20 dice for the remainder of your time playing Baldur’s Gate 3.
