How to Get Free Mount Trophies and Armor in Diablo 4

There’s quite a bit of customization in Diablo 4, from your builds to your transmogs. But did you know you can also get trophies and armor for your horse without ever stepping into the premium shop?

Getting Mount Armor

Currently, the only way to get free mount armor in-game is by killing enemies. Out of the thousands of enemies I’ve killed, I’ve only had three mount armor drop. These armor drops don’t seem to be related to particular enemies – I got my Traveling Merchant’s Tack armor from a random Dreadknight in a dungeon.

If you’re not having any luck, you can also opt to purchase mount armor from the Stable in any town or city, for several million gold. If PvP is more your thing, there’s also some pretty unique mount armor in the cities Denshar and Alzuuda, which abut the Fields of Hatred. If you’re not sure where those cities are, check out our guide below.

Getting Mount Trophies

Free in-game mount trophies are also a random drop from enemies, but they’re associated with the territories they’re found in or the enemy you’ve killed. For example, I killed a lot of Marauders in the Dry Steppes. And it’s in this location that I obtained the Steppe Fetish Mask.

There’s also trophies that have been datamined like Fallen Shaman’s Staff and Butcher’s Trophy Cleaver. While I’ve yet to see anyone with these trophies equipped, it’s likely that they’re also drops.

It’s also been confirmed that trophies will drop from completing difficult tasks and monsters, which will be added during Diablo 4’s first season, releasing this July.

If you like free stuff, you should know there’s currently a Twitch event going on for Diablo 4. Watching these streams will net you some free in-game cosmetics. Learn more here: How to Claim Twitch Drops for Diablo 4.
