How to Get Brutal Bone in Monster Hunter World (MHW)

Where is the bone zone?

If you’re crafting Bone weapons, certain powerful Charm upgrades, or some armor, you’ll need a particularly “Brutal” bone to do so. Here’s where you can get your hands on a Brutal Bone in Monster Hunter World.

Monster Hunter World Brutal Bone Location

Brutal Bones can be primarily obtained by searching bone piles in the Elder’s Recess on High or Master Rank. The Elder’s Recess is the volcanic, crystalline wasteland that you encounter toward the latter portion of the base game’s Low Rank quests. As you transition from Low to High Rank, bone piles and other resources like ore will begin to drop higher-level crafting materials, so be sure to stop and gather everything at each difficulty threshold!

Brutal Bones can also be granted as quest rewards, but I wouldn’t rely on these since it’s much easier (and faster) to simply pick them up as part of your normal hunts in the Elder’s Recess. If you aren’t heading there yourself, you can also send your Tailrider Safari crew there – just be sure they’re going to be gathering bone piles – and they may treat you to some on their return!

The percentage chance to get a Brutal Bone from a pile in Elder’s Recess is roughly the same, so don’t worry about stressing if you want a more relaxed gathering experience. You can also keep an eye out for Upsurge events, which increase the amount of materials gathered from each bone pile. Odds are you don’t need more than a few, so you should find more than enough in no time.

If you need a little extra help finding the bone piles themselves, be sure to check your map for their gathering nodes. You can then pin them with R3 and your scoutflies will lead you straight there!
