How to Get a Sunflower in Solarpunk
You're the sunflower.
Getting a Sunflower unlocks the tier 6 and beyond research upgrades in Solarpunk, making it crucial to progress and unlock more tech.
These Sunflowers are easy to find because they have vibrant colors, but you must know which islands to go to to find them. Here’s a short guide showing you where to find Sunflowers in Solarpunk.
Where to Find Sunflowers in Solarpunk
In the image above, you’ll see the first three islands that have Sunflowers, which should also give you Sunflower Seeds. However, these islands only unlock after reaching the level 3 Airship upgrade.
You’ll need to complete the following Tradebot trades to unlock the level 3 Airship upgrade:
- 4x Watermelon
- 12x Cotton
- 20x Beeswax
- 10x Watermelon
- 32x Copper
- 5x Silicon
- 10x Wheat
- 20x Cloth
- 10x Bread
- 6x Egg (unlocks the Airship Research Upgrade Level 3)
Wheat and Egg would be the hardest resources to farm here. Once you reach the level 3 Airship upgrade, go to the three islands shown in the image or map above.
The island to the south only has two Sunflowers, even though it is the biggest island. The others have a couple more, which should give you a lot of Sunflowers. While you only need a single Sunflower to unlock the Tier 6 research upgrades at the Research Table, you’ll still need three more to get the Seedspack and Better Animal Feed research, which are the two most crucial research for Tier 6.
Next, the Better Animal Feed research will have several alternative recipes to craft Animal Feed. Since you might have increased your Wheat production to finish the trades and to maintain your chicken farm, you might want to grow more Sunflower just so you can use the Wheat and Sunflower alternative recipe for 3x Better Animal Feed. You’ll definitely need to use these Better Animal Feed recipes once you start getting more chickens and pigs in the near future.
