Considered the Protagonist’s canonical Ultimate Persona in Persona 3 Reload, Messiah is one of the game’s most unique and powerful Personas. You unlock the ability to fuse for him during the true ending’s path, and you won’t be disappointed should you choose to fuse him.
How to Get Messiah in Persona 3 Reload
Messiah can be fused once you complete the Judgement Social Link, which requires beating the 255F boss in Tartarus and reaching Level 91 with the Protagonist. Messiah is only attainable by fusing Orpheus and Thanatos, the starter Persona, and the Death Arcana Ultimate Persona. Since Death is a story Social Link, you can always fuse for Messiah in every run.
Messiah has good magic and strength numbers and automatically has Megidolaon and God’s Hand, so he can be a powerful attacker of any type. He resists all elements and reflects Light and Dark, and learns Null Phys at 96, so you automatically obtain it when fusing him thanks to the Judgement Social Link being maxed. His unique skill is Magic Ability, which increases all Magic attacks (except Almighty) damage by 25%.
This makes him an incredibly useful Persona, with the only downside being that he does not inherit many good abilities from its fusion materials normally. You can get around this with useful Skill Cards such as Single-Target Boost/Multi-Target Boost or by passing down other skills to Orpheus/Thanatos before fusing.
Leveling up Messiah gives you the Savior’s Augite Heart Item, which can be used to make the Armor of Light and Shoes of Light, some of the most powerful armor pieces in the game. If you want to get extra copies for your whole team, fusing/releasing Messiah away and fusing him again by buying Orpheus and Thanatos is cheaper than buying him back.
Messiah is unique in the sense that is an actual direct fusion of Orpheus with Thanatos design-wise. Some of its learnable skills (God’s Hand, Salvation, Enduring Soul) directly refer to Christianity’s concept of the messiah as a savior. This makes it a perfect fit for the game’s themes and solidifies it as the “canonical” Ultimate Persona for the Protagonist at the end of the game.
It is an amazing Persona for fighting the final boss or facing Elizabeth, as long as you remember to switch it out whenever she goes for an element he would reflect/nullify. This makes it more useful for a support role rather than an offensive one, which is best led by Orpheus Telos, as usual.
