How to Fly in Satisfactory 1.0 | Jetpack Unlock Guide

Look ma, no gravity!

In Satisfactory, you’ll continuously progress and unlock more incredible things. Most of them are for fun, but some are both fun and convenient. Some of these unlockable equipment allow you to fly, and it is one of the things you should prioritize. The equipment in question is the Jetpack, and here’s how you can unlock it and fly it in Satisfactory 1.0.

How to Unlock the Jetpack and Fly in Satisfactory

Unlocking the Jetpack should be the number one priority if you are close to it already. It unlocks after reaching tier 6 – Jetpacks on the HUB after completing phase 2 on the Space Elevator. You can even prepare before you can unlock it to start flying immediately.

Here are the things you’ll need to start flying:

  • Jetpack
  • Fuel (Packaged Fuel, Packaged Turbofuel, Solid Biofuel, or Packaged Liquid Biofuel)

These requirements mean that you should have a fully functioning refinery or Oil production setup so you can easily get some excess Crude Oil to package as fuel or just use up Solid Biofuel (not recommended).

To craft the Jetpack, you need the following materials:

  • 50x Plastic
  • 50x Rubber
  • 15x Circuit Boards
  • 5x Motors

Since you don’t need to craft multiple Jetpacks, you don’t have to automate it. You can craft one using the equipment workbench. If another player needs one, you can manually craft it again.

How to Get Packaged Fuel for Jetpacks in Satisfactory

The only way to get Packaged Fuel is to use a Packager machine and get 2x Fuel and 2x Empty Canister to get 2x Packaged Fuel. Now, this one cannot be manually crafted because you have a packaged liquid as the final product.

You want to have an input of automated Fuel and Empty Cannisters next to the Packager. Pick the Packaged Fuel to start producing it. Add an output that leads to storage where you can easily pick up some Packaged Fuel when needed. You’ll definitely use a lot of Packaged Fuel once you have the Jetpack, but don’t go overboard on creating thousands of Packaged Fuel. This is the most efficient fuel, but you’ll eventually unlock other “better” fuels like Turbofuel or Liquid Biofuel in the later stages of the game.

How to Use the Jetpack in Satisfactory

The last step is to craft and equip the Jetpack. Open your inventory and drag your newly crafted Jetpack to your back equipment slot. You also need to have some source of fuel in your inventory. You don’t have to place the fuel anywhere. As long as the fuel is in your inventory, the game detects that there is fuel to be used.

You can check the lower-left corner for the type of fuel being used for the Jetpack. Once the Jetpack is equipped, just hold space after jumping to start flying. There are some limitations, as you can only use the Jetpack a few times before you need to land again to restart the “fuel” meter. There will be a gauge on the lower-left corner once you are flying. The meter goes down when you use the Jetpack. You have to stay on the ground to let it recover.

You can think of this as a stamina bar. However, you cannot fly nonstop, which is a travesty. Then again, you can unlock trains in Satisfactory in the near future as another form of traveling.
