Warhammer 40K: Darktide is currently in its pre-order beta, and as such, things aren’t working as smoothly as you’d hope to see from a full release. That’s to be expected, though it doesn’t prevent these issues from being uniquely frustrating. Who wants to crash several times when just trying to level their character? There’s one issue that can be extra detrimental if you have multiple monitors, but still frustrating regardless. Here’s how to fix the cursor being stuck on the screen in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.

How to Fix Darktide Cursor Stuck on Screen

In case you aren’t aware, the cursor stuck on screen issue is fairly self-explanatory. This issue causes your cursor from the menus to be stuck on the screen during gameplay, and move whenever you move the mouse. If while moving the mouse it appears on another monitor, for example, it will click you out of the game. Given you need left-click to swing and shoot your weapons, that can get frustrating very, very fast.

Speaking from our own experience, this issue tends to come up from a conflict with alt-tabbing, something all too common for multiple monitor setups. That doesn’t mean it’ll only happen for those setups, but that tends to be a major cause. Entering the text chat and leaving it can also bring your cursor up on the screen, making communication with teammates more frustrating. As for how you can go about fixing it, many of the fixes are similar to how you might fix this issue in other games should it come up.

The first things you should try are to enter and leave the text chat, followed by alt-tabbing if that doesn’t work. You may have already tried these things and it likely didn’t work, though for a select few they’ve remedied the problem. Another great way to fix this issue is to switch to one screen set-up (i.e. from Fullscreen to Windowed) and then back to your previous set-up. This tends to refresh the cursor and makes it disappear during gameplay. The final way that’s guaranteed to work, albeit with a rather annoying requirement, is to restart your game. If you’re already in a match, you’ll be able to reconnect on the relaunch, though the process of starting the game again is rather annoying.

While all of these fixes are temporary and could work, there’s currently no permanent solution to stop the issue. We know that’s not what you wanted to hear, though the team at Fatshark is likely planning on deploying a fix to reduce its frequency. If they do fix it, we’ll be sure to update you.
