How To Fix the Neva Ultrawide Black Bars Issue on PC

Neva gonna give you up!

Neva is another beautiful action-adventure title from Nomada Studio, the developers of Gris. It’s one of the best-looking titles of the year and runs great on PC. It’s a shame that despite the excellent art direction, the game doesn’t have proper support for ultrawide monitors. Thankfully, Rose from the widescreen community has patched in ultrawide support to Neva, removing the black bars from its presentation.

Fixing the Neva Ultrawide Black Bars Issue

This patch by Rose unlocks ultrawide resolutions and removes the black bars from Neva, allowing for a seamless ultrawide experience that’s perfect for this title.

Installing the patch is a pretty simple process:

  • Head over to the following GitHub link
  • Download the patch file by clicking the Neva.ultrawide.v1.0.zip under Assets
  • Unpack the zip file, run the patching tool, and target the installation folder of Neva
  • That’s all you have to do, and the next time you launch Neva, you’ll be able to select your desired resolution in the settings

The intro cutscene is pre-rendered, so that will be displayed as it does with black bars, but everything after that should be rendered with proper ultrawide resolution. Here is a screenshot of the game running in proper ultrawide provided by Rose.

All credits go to Rose for creating and testing the patch at 2560×1080, 3440×1440, and 3840×1080. You can learn about their work at their Patreon or BuyMeACoffee pages. For now, there aren’t reported issues with the patch, and it works flawlessly.

We don’t expect the developers to add ultrawide support anytime soon, as they haven’t addressed it on Steam either. Thankfully, this patch is more than enough and does a great job regardless.

A lack of ultrawide support isn’t the only thing holding the game back, but Neva has a few controller issues as well, which can be fixed with a few tweaks in Steam.
