How To Fix Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 DualSense Issues on PC

It just works.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is an excellent PC release with stellar performance across a variety of hardware. It looks incredible thanks to CryEngine with some of the most dense foliage in an open-world environment. The PC version has full support for multiple controllers and input types.

That said, if you can’t get your PlayStation controllers to work properly in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 on PC, here is how to easily fix that.

Fix Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 DualSense and Controller Issues

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has native support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers. This means that the developers have set up profiles to support controllers from both makers. As usual, though, Steam Input, as it tends to do, can interfere with these native controller profiles and emulate the Xinput scheme instead.

To fix any issues with DualSense and DualShock 4 controllers, you simply need to disable Steam Input for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

Here is how that works:

  • Make sure Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 isn’t running on Steam
  • Open Steam, and navigate to your library
  • Here, right-click on Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and select Properties
  • Select the Controller tab, and select the Disable Steam Input option under Override for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Once you’re done, you’re good to go and the game will recognize the controller correctly. It will also display the proper PlayStation prompts, and give access to DualSense-specific features like Adaptive Triggers and light bar.

I have personally tested the Xbox Series controller, DualShock 4, and the DualSense. Each control works as it should and seamlessly switches between correct button prompts as well.

Controller Troubleshooting

If your controller isn’t working properly, we recommend going through our troubleshooting checklist.

  • Check detected controllers in the Steam Client: To check detected controllers currently connected to your PC in the Steam client, select Steam Steam Settings Controller:

  • Connect one controller at a time to avoid potential conflicts.
  • Remove any other active input devices like a HOTAS or racing wheel.
  • Try a wired connection instead of playing wirelessly.

Make sure to check up on the complete controls for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and how you can access the photo mode tool.
