How to Fix Game Initialization Error 201 in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Can get into Dreamlight Valley? Find out how to fix it.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is like a home away from home for many gamers now, especially with the continued support from developers. As we venture further into the land before us, we can expect to see more familiar faces show up, and more exciting questlines to follow along with. However, things can come to a screeching halt if you encounter the dreaded Error 201 while trying to jump back into this comfortable and cozy world. Let’s see what could be causing this, and what we may be able to do to get back into this cozy simulator.

How To Fix Error 201 In Disney Dreamlight Valley

Alongside all the new content in the Dreamsnaps Update, it seems that a pesky new error has come alongside it. While most players seem to be able to jump into Dreamlight Valley once again with little to no issue, let’s see what we can do to bypass this error.

The first thing to reassure you that you aren’t alone is the Dreamlight Valley Discord Channel. After browsing there this morning, I stumbled across a few messages from Moderators on the chat, acknowledging the issue. In a message from GL Moderator, Courtney_GL;

Thank you to all who submitted their player ID’s.

The team is aware of the 201 Error and is working on a fix. Will update shortly!

We appreciate your patience.

So, for patient players, you may just need to wait it out and see when a hotfix will be released. As of the time of this writing, there is currently no planned time, but the team is working diligently to get everyone back into this world.

Edit: As of July 20, a new fix has been deployed:

Error 201 Status Update

Great news everyone! We have a fix that should resolve this error for affected players and have deployed it.

Simply close your game (if it’s open) and boot it back up for the fix to take effect. Please note: You may have to repeate the above process twice.

We will be closely monitoring to be sure this error does not persist and will keep you updated if we have more to share.

Once again, thank you for your patience!

If you’re like me, however, and don’t want to wait, there are a few things you could try to get yourself back into the game. The first thing to attempt is a full restart of the game. Completely close out of it on your platform of choice, and enter back in. There is a good chance that this could get you back in without encountering the error message again, but this isn’t guaranteed.

If you’re playing on Steam, you could always try and verify your game files to see if something went wrong during the most recent update. For console players, you may need to uninstall and reinstall your game if you’re hoping to get in faster than currently expected. While we don’t recommend this, as it is likely a server issue rather than a full-on game issue, you could always give this a try.

You can also take advantage of the Customer Care button when this error pops up, which will let you reach out to a member of the staff to let them know what’s going on. We also strongly suggest joining the Discord Channel to let the team know you’re having problems.

At this point, the team is aware of the issue and is doing everything in its power to get the game into a playable state for those that are having issues logging in. Until you can get back into the game, however, make sure that you’re checking out our Dreamlight Valley section below, especially if this is your first time making the trip into this magical land. You’ll never know where to get your hands on Dream Fizz without it.
