If you’ve been trying to join your favorite multiplayer maps in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 with a local friend, there’s a chance you’ve been hit with the Dev Error 12744. Is there any way to fix it, and if so, how do you make it happen?
Can You Fix Dev Error 12744 in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3?
If you’re playing split-screen with a friend and try to go online to access the multiplayer portions of this game, there is a chance that you’ve encountered Dev Error 12744, an error with unknown origins and only one way to fix it: playing solo. While this bug doesn’t appear as often as other errors, it’s happening enough to players playing in split-screen that it’s becoming an issue that Activision and Sledgehammer Games need to acknowledge at some point.
At this point, the only real way to avoid this particular bug is to play in Solo, or avoid going into any maps that were originally brought over from MW2, as this Reddit thread points out. This removes a large portion of the available maps from the game, but for a relatively bug free experience, you may need to filter your list down to just newly added maps.
It would be easy to jump into other modes like Zombies, but that particular mode does not have the option to play split screen in this entry. The only option we can recommend at this point is to politely let Activision Customer Support know that you have encountered this issue because the more reports they receive, the faster this issue can be put to rest.
