The most challenging foe you’ll face is unlocking your skills. Here’s how to find and use treatises in Rise of the Ronin.
How to Find and Use Treatises in Rise of the Ronin
Rise of Ronin thrusts you into a pivotal moment in Japan’s history, with the choice of who you side with ultimately laying in your hands. But before you can think of siding with the shogunates or anti shogunates, you’ll be faced with a much more pressing concern.
What are treatises and how do you get them? Treatises are essentially skill books. By opening your inventory and using them, you can unlock a skill in the specific category the treatise is for. A treatise for intelligence, for example, will give you one skill point in intelligence. This is essential for unlocking the skills in each category’s skill tree.
You can get treatises from all manner of places in Rise of the Ronin. You can find treatises in chests marked on your map once you’ve unlocked enough of a region’s bond, by completing missions, or you can find them much more consistently at specific vendors. Each treatise has its own unique vendor.
- Treatises of Strength can be purchased from the Official at the Yokohama Town Hall.
- Treatises of Intellect can be purchased from the Photograph Studio in Yokohama.
- Treatises on Charm can be purchased from Usugumo Dayu in the Miyozaki’s Pleasure District.
Unfortunately, treatises are very expensive. You can expect them to cost 30 silvers. Obtaining silver can only be done by completing side missions and tasks, like catching and petting cats, defeating fugitives, and completing photography requests. The more side quests you handle, the richer you’ll be. Just prioritize completing every task in a region.
However, it’s a hard choice between treatises and the rare weapons and armor black market merchants sell. Personally, I recommend completing side quests and opening storehouses to get treatises and saving your silver coin for equipment.
One side quest I recommend is Gonzos, but should you kill him instead?
