Path of Exile 2 is one of the most complicated games ever made. Despite the game’s UI improvements since the first title, third-party apps are still almost mandatory when you want to min-max gear or understand how your build can improve. The Path of Building third-party application helps players tweak and experiment with their build even without acquiring “x” gear or item. In this guide, you’ll learn where to download Path of Building – Path of Exile 2 (since there’s a version for Path of Exile 1 with the same name) and how to use it.
Where to Download Path of Building – Path of Exile 2?

You can download the Path of Building – Path of Exile 2 through GitHub. Since it is a community-driven project, you’ll see several tweaks and changes from random community members to help improve the code.
When using the link above, you should look for the “Assets” section under the Contributors. It is usually seen below the latest release patch or update.
Once you find the Assets section, you’ll see a portable “.zip” file, a setup.exe file, and some source codes. You need to download the PathOfBuildingCommunity-PoE2-Setup.exe file.
After downloading the file, run it and install it in your preferred drive. Since it is a separate application, it doesn’t need to be inside the Path of Exile 2 folder.
After installation, you can now run the application.

What is Path of Building Used For in Path of Exile 2?

Most players, especially those who have never played Path of Exile 1, may be curious about why almost all the popular build creators and content creators rave so much about Path of Building.
As the name suggests, it is the best application for theory-crafting builds, even if you only follow a build from another creator. Let’s say you are following our Stormweaver Spark build. You’ll see some of the gear you want to get, but you have no idea if it will make you stronger.
You can copy gear from the trading website, paste the item inside Path of Building, and see what it’ll do to your character when equipped. Since you import your current character into Path of Building, you’ll see all the stats, including uncommon and miscellaneous stats such as effective HP or physical max hit stats.
The game doesn’t even show these stats, but these are also important to know. For example, seeing a high physical max hit stat means the character can withstand a single physical strike up to that range. You’ll technically know your one-shot thresholds in physical, elemental, and chaos damage, which is extremely important when playing hardcore.
You can also start theory-crafting your own build variation when you discover exciting things like a Morior Invictus, Adorned, Ingenuity Belts, or any character-defining unique items.
Apart from using Path of Building to tweak your build, you can also explore other content creators and their builds. Most creators create their Path of Building write-ups and link them in their build guide videos. Their links may or may not have a long message under their build’s “notes” tab when imported. These notes will teach players what to go for or the most frequently asked questions and answer them for those who wish to follow the build.
Path of Building is amazing, and if you are a fan of Path of Exile 2, you should start learning how to use it as soon as possible!
