How to Defeat the Shadow Hikari in Octopath Traveler 2

Winning battles with the power of friendship

by Daphne Fama

Upon besting Mugen, you’ll be faced with the shadow that lives in Hikari’s soul. The wretched, otherworldly presence that has given the Ku clan the ability to decimate all those who stand against them. The blackened, corrupted creature that has given Hikari’s family the reputation of the Accursed Ku. Here is how you defeat Shadow Hikari in Octopath Traveler 2.

How to Defeat the Shadow Hikari in Octopath Traveler 2

Approach Shadow Hikari to challenge him. You really have no choice, there’s no where else to go. You can’t even save. But don’t worry, he’s not nearly as difficult as you might image.

Shadow Hikari has access to many of Hikari’s basic warrior moves, but he has two primary weaknesses: sword and axe. This is excellent, because we can use Vengeful Blade and Aggressive Slash.

Use your early BP to boost Vengeful Blade, which will counter physical attacks with a Sword attack. When Hikari attacks you, not only will you automatically do around 1,900 damage to him, you’ll break one of his shields.

With this setup, build up the rest of your BP and wait until Shadow Hikari’s shields are fully broken. Then use Hikari’s fully boosted latent ability to absolutely decimate him. At this point, Shadow Hikari will use Take Over, which will prevent Hikari from moving.

But that’s okay! Because we have the power of friendship on our side. Hikari will regain control of himself and go Super Saiyan. Use your strongest ability and watch Shadow Hikari just get torn asunder.

It’s a nice easy fight that’s essentially meant to be an epic anime battle. But don’t get too comfortable. There’s still more to come.
