How to Defeat the Battle Talus in Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK)

Prepare for Battle!

You were likely just exploring and picking up some mushrooms in a cave below, when all of a sudden, the Battle Talus and its minions appeared for a boss fight. This is one of the earliest boss fights in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and the Battle Talus certainly doesn’t hold back against Link.

Not only are there multiple enemies involved in the fight, but the main boss can seem entirely invulnerable if you don’t know where to hit. I may have lost all the food in my inventory during my fight, but now I can outline exactly how to smash the Battle Talus and claim your reward in TotK.

Tears of the Kingdom – How to Defeat the Battle Talus

The first thing you want to do in this fight is take out the three Bokoblins that are on top of the Talus. They will continue to throw projectiles or shoot arrows at you until they are dealt with. Between the boss hurling rocks and the extra projectiles, it’s a recipe for disaster. Simply hit them with critical shots on the bow, then focus on the boss.

Defeating the Battle Talus:

  • Use Bomb Flowers and fuse them to your arrows as an easy way to destroy the arms on the boss.
  • This will stagger the boss and give you a small window.
  • Go up to the boss and use the Ascend ability to get on the scaffolding connected to the Battle Talus.
  • There will be a dark ore on the right side.
  • Hit this ore to deal real damage to the boss until it throws you off.

Repeat the cycle listed above until the Battle Talus is taken down in Tears of the Kingdom. The boss hits hard, but if you follow the standard steps, taking it down will be quick, especially if you utilize heavy-hitting weapons. Once the fight is over, fuse the Stone Talus Heart for some extra damage on an open weapon, or leave it behind.
