Rathil might be immune to damage, but by clearing these mechanics, you’ll make mincemeat out of him. Here’s how to defeat Rathil in Destiny 2.
How To Defeat Rathil in Destiny 2 – Boss Guide
A dragon hides in these mountains, and to reach it, you’ll need to defeat Rathil, First Broken Knight of Fikrul.
Fortunately, this Scorn Boss is easy enough to conquer if you know the mechanics.
When you first meet Rathil, he’ll be immune to all types of damage. Our goal is to remove Rathil’s invulnerability to do damage. Here’s how that works.
Once you trigger the fight with Rathil, he’ll summon Stalker and Lurker Scorn into the field. They usually spawn in front of him, and their spawn point is generally marked with blue Stalker smoke.
Rathil will then summon Taken Totems. You’ll get the buff Imminent Wish, which you can use to cleanse these Taken Totems. You must stand in the white circle surrounding the Totems to cleanse them. The more Totems you cleanse, the longer your damage window against the boss.
However, it’s very likely that you’ll be teleported into a cage hanging in the arena before you can cleanse a Taken Totem. The cage will begin to ascend.
You will have a short window of time to destroy three Acolyte’s Eyes. The first will usually be somewhere in front of you, the second will be a little higher, and the third will be higher still.
They’re all only a few meters away from the cage, but you may have to turn around and look up or down to locate them.
It’s imperative that you destroy these Acolyte’s Eyes as quickly as possible, so you have more time to cleanse the Taken Totems. Fail to destroy all three Acolyte’s Eyes in time and you will instantly die in the cage. If you successfully destroy all three Acolyte’s Eyes, the cage will open. Once the cage door opens, jump down and immediately make your way to the Taken Totems.
Stand in the marked circle around the Taken Totems, and eventually the Imminent Wish buff will cleanse the Taken Totem.
Once one Taken Totem is cleansed, you’ll get the buff called “Naeem’s Wish Empowerment”. This buff will allow you to damage Rathil. Each member of your team should cleanse a Totem. The more Totems you’ve cleaned, the longer Naeem’s Wish Empowerment will last, and the longer your damage window.
If you don’t kill Rathil in one phase, you’ll repeat the process. You’ll get the Imminent Wish buff, be teleported into the cage, escape the cage, and cleanse the Taken Totems until you’ve whittled away Rathil’s health.
Recommended Equipment to Defeat Rathil in Destiny 2
Equipment and mods can be the difference between a win and a defeat. And this season’s artifact has some fantastic options that can make this fight easier.
Queensfoil Censer Artifact Perks
- From Whence You Came – Increases ability damage to Taken and Scorn Combatants. Found on row 2.
- Blast Radius – Rapid final blows with Rocket Launchers and Grenade Launchers grant Armor Charge. Found on row 2. Only if you’re option for rocket launchers for this fight.
Heavy Weapons
- Gjallarhorn
- Legendary Rocket Launchers
- Witherhoard
- Lament
The new rocket launcher, Dragon’s Breath, isn’t bad either, as it’s a small arena that’s very mob-heavy. The flames will keep mobs away and do tick damage to Rathil. Withhoard, likewise, will eat away at Rathil’s health. But any heavy weapon that can deal with the small arena will serve you well.
