While Overwatch 2 doesn’t necessarily have hard counters, knowing which characters do best against others can be the difference between winning and losing a match. Here’s how to counter Reinhardt in Overwatch 2.
The Best Heroes to Counter Reinhardt in Overwatch 2
For simplicity’s sake, we’re going to split this up into three separate categories: tank, damage, and support characters. While support characters don’t necessarily counter tanks, some are better suited for dealing with him. With that out of the way, let’s start with tank counters.
Tank Counters
- Doomfist
- Orisa
- Ramattra
- Winston
Reinhardt’s main point of strength is his barrier, which can help to block incoming damage of various types. As such, characters like Doomfist, Ramattra, and Winston who can ignore his barrier with certain attacks are great ways to combat him. Orisa is also great thanks to her displacement abilities such as her Javelin and Javelin Spin attacks keeping Reinhardt from swinging his hammer at nearby allies or yourself.
Damage Counters
- Bastion
- Junkrat
- Mei
- Reaper
- Sojourn
- Symmetra
Similar to the tank counters, characters who can eliminate his shield easily can ruin Reinhardt’s day, such as Bastion and Junkrat. Characters like Sojourn and Symmetra can also turn his strength into theirs, increasing their damage output when attacking the shield. Otherwise, Mei makes a great stopper to big plays from a Reinhardt, while Reaper is the usual tank counter thanks to them eating all pellets from his shotgun.
Support Counters
- Ana
- Kiriko
- Lifeweaver
While these characters won’t be killing Reinhardt easily, they are great at preventing some of his bigger plays. Ana can sleep a charging Reinhardt and severely damage a power play, Kiriko can cleanse targets hit by his Earthshatter, and Lifeweaver can pull someone out of a charge that would otherwise kill them. You’ll be a valuable asset to your team when against him making these great choices.
