How to Complete Saving the Mole in Escape from Tarkov

Save the mole, save the world.

Escape from Tarkov has several starting tasks in Ground Zero. Most of these tasks unlock several new quest chains that help you finish more tasks and level up. The Saving the Mole task unlocks a crucial quest chain from Mechanic, and everyone looking to level up should finish it as fast as possible. Here’s a quick guide on how to finish the Saving the Mole task in Escape from Tarkov.

How to Finish Saving the Mole Task in Escape from Tarkov

To finish the Saving the Mole task, you need to finish the following objectives:

  • Locate the USEC PMC group at the parking lot of the TerraGroup complex on Ground Zero.
  • Locate the lab scientist on Ground Zero.
  • Access the scientist’s office.
  • Locate and obtain the scientist’s hard drive.
  • Survive and extract with the hard drive to hand over to Mechanic.

Not only do you have to finish all these objectives in one raid, but you also have to survive and extract with the hard drive. If you fail, you’ll have to repeat the task again. However, all these objectives are finished in one area: the TerraGroup building near the vehicle extraction point and Tarbank.

Saving the Mole Objective Locations

If you look at the images above, they will paint a picture of how to complete most of the objectives. As you enter the TerraGroup building, head straight until you see the short hallway with the dead end. You’ll see some rubble at the end and a scientist crushed along with it. Search the dead scientist’s body and loot the key.

If the key isn’t available, another PMC could have taken it. They are probably doing the same quest, so they might have opened the locked door you have to go to.

Once you have the key, head up and look for the door with “4” next to it. Open it using the key and look at the desk in the middle.

There are two possible spawns for the hard drive, which is circled in the image above. Once you have the hard drive, you still need to locate the USEC PMC group. Head straight to the entrance and look for the hallway that leads to the parking lot (left hallway upon entering from the main entrance). You only have to step near the van with the dead bodies to finish the quest.

Now, you have finished all the objectives, and all that is left is to extract them with the hard drive. The safest should be the vehicle extraction point next to the TerraGroup building. You should pay attention to the sounds or gunshots as many Scavs are roaming around outside the building. If they are shooting at someone, there should be another PMC nearby. Wait until the ghost is clear and head for the vehicle extraction point. If it is already taken, you can go to any extraction point.

Finish the Saving the Mole task unlocks Gunsmith Part 1 and a Marathon Secrets of Polikhim quest from Prapor. Gunsmith unlocks several new quests, so you should focus on these types of tasks.
