How to Find Encoded Log Mission in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 players taking on the seasonal Echoes Act 1 missions will eventually receive the Encoded Log quest from Failsafe at the HELM location. The mission says to investigate the Well of Echoes on Nessus, but does not give an exact waypoint.

Travel to Nessus and take the fast travel point nearest to the Well of Echoes marked on the map. The place will be a large structure with a triangular opening. Follow the path inside and take the portal to be in the Well of Echoes and an obvious battle arena.

Players will have to fight the Argus, Firewall Guardian boss by first destroying four Vex cubes in the room to bring down its shield. There are two on the upper levels, one near a static portal, and one in the center of the room. Keep moving around and shoot the boss once its shield is down to defeat it.

The waypoint will now point to an underground opening, so jump into the black void to get down to the A Hole in the Well area where the Enigma Protocol activity is. Players will be gently lowered down the black void of the well.

How to Complete Encoded Log in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 players can complete the Encoded Log quest by completing the first half of the Enigma Protocol activity. The activity starts at 2005 Power level, so be sure to be at a high level if playing with a random matchmade fireteam.

The Enigma Protocol is half obstacle course and half fights with secondary objectives attached. It is also a time trial, so the team can fail the activity if time runs out.

The time can be continually extended by destroying the diamond-shaped Network Security Nodes and defeating occasional Archival Timekeeper enemies. There are also upgrades that players can get later.

The first half consists of a platforming section, a battle where players must charge a circuit in glowing pools, another platforming section, a battle against nine Denial Agents with shields destroyed by throwing orbs, and a final platforming section. Then players will reach a safe room that will spawn a chest and the Encoded Log mission completed.

Players can then choose to go into the portal to complete the second half of the Enigma Protocol or reset the activity to do it again for easy rewards. Regardless, the Encoded Log mission will be done and players can safely leave.
