How to Complete Destiny 2’s Operation Fulgurite

These Knights are chomping on sea rocks

It’s the third week of the season of the deep, and a new cache of coral has been found even deeper in Titan’s methane ocean. So, let’s grab it. Here’s how to complete Destiny 2’s weekly mission, Operation Fulgurite (Abyss).

How to Complete Destiny 2’s Operation Fulgurite

If we want Ahsa’s secrets, we need that coral. So, let’s plunge into the obsidian depths of Titan’s toxic ocean. If you’re at a particular part of the mission and need help, use the table of content to jump straight there.

Table of Contents

Airlock Door Opened

Fortunately for us, we start halfway down. Open the cylinder door in front, using the handle to the left.

Select Gift from Ahsa

The door will open to a familiar sight. We’re in the arena we fought the Taken hoards in last week. But this time, we won’t need to grab any batteries. Instead, head straight across toward the doors at the end of the plaza. There will be two gooey Ahsa blessings. Select whichever best suits your build. I opted for increased Grenade Damage.

Navigate the Cave System

Find the Caves

Once you select your blessing, the door will open. Enter, and you’ll see a branching path. They lead to the same place but take the right entrance. You’ll drop into the water. To your left will be a pillar with a lever on it and behind you will be a locked door. Interact with the lever to unlock the door behind you.

Walk through the door and continue straight. You’ll encounter a drop on your left, highlighted neon pink.

Drop, then continue left. There will be another cliff to jump off. Do so. As you drop, note there is a locked door behind you. To unlock it, we’ll need to interact with the lever on the pole in front of us. Do so, then return through the door and walk through.

The path ahead is straight. Follow it and walk out into the open air.

Reclaim the Coral from the Taken Knights

Plant Egregore Resonator

You’ll be on a cliff that looks out over a very obvious boss arena. Jump down and place the Egregore Resonator in the white circle. Once you plant it, you’ll face several waves of enemies.

Wave 1: Deposit Two Corrupted Coral

The first wave will be two Taken Knights called “Coral Devourers” on either side of the map.

These Knights will have a small entourage of Taken Acolytes. Kill the Coral Devourer and it will drop a white Corrupted Coral.

You have 20 seconds to pick up the Corrupted Coral and deposit it in a silver canister, which will be marked by a grey diamond.

Kill each Knight and deposit each Coral to trigger wave two.

Wave 2: Deposit Two Corrupted Coral

This Wave will feature two yellow bar Taken Phalanx called Wrathful Interlopers and two more Coral Devourer Knights.

Like in the last round, you’ll need to kill the Coral Devourer Knights and deposit the Corrupted Coral into the silver canisters scattered around the arena.

You’ll also need to kill the two Taken Phalanx.

Wave 3: Deposit Three Corrupted Coral

Here’s where it gets sticky. Again, you’ll have two Wrathful Interlopers. But this time, you’ll have three Coral Devourer Knights and the mobs they bring with them. There will be quite a few enemies, and I highly recommend you kill the Taken Vandal on the perches above the arena and take their place. If you do so, you’ll have a line of sight to most areas in the arena.

Be wary of the Taken Knight fire damage and remember, the Corrupted Coral must be deposited within 20 seconds of spawning. Failure to do so will cause it to despawn and a new Coral Devourer Knight to appear. For this reason, I recommend that you save the Knights for last.

Once you’ve deposited all three, you’ll be teleported to the chamber just outside of the boss room.

Plant the Egregore Resonator

Plain the Egregore Resonator outside of the boss door and get ready for a fight.

Boss Fight: Kelgorath

Defeat Kelgorath, Taken from Bones

As you might expect, the boss of the week is a giant Taken Knight, with all his Taken friends. And it might not be a coincidence that this fight feels a lot like a Gambit match.

Kelgorath has a three-segment health bar, doesn’t move much, and is easy to take down at a distance. However, he is surrounded by Goblins who will make him invincible, and Taken Phalanx who do severe damage if you’re in melee range. For this reason, I recommend staying on the upper ridge of the arena as much as possible and clearing out the Goblins near Kelgorath when need be.

Once you lower the boss down one health state, three Taken Blights will spawn and Kelgorath will go immune. You’ll need to step into the dome of the Taken Blight and shoot at the core to destroy it.

Note, while you’re inside the Blight, enemies will be immune to damage. You, however, will take constant damage from the Blight and damage from enemy attacks. For that reason, it’s a good idea to clear out as many enemies as possible, with priority on the Taken Phalanx. That’s because many of these Blights are situated on platforms and they love to try to boop you off.

When all three Taken Blights are destroyed, Kelgorath will because vulnerable again. This will allow you to damage him for another health state. Once you reach the last segment, he’ll go invulnerable again and only two Taken Blights will spawn. Take these out, then finish Kelgorath off once and for all.

Claim the Egregore Coral

On the platform, at the very end of the boss arena, will be the coral we worked so hard to get. Claim it, and a Deep Dive chest will then spawn. Take that too, you deserve it.

Complete a Deep Dive

Oh, did you think it was over? Of course not! Head back to the map, then go to the H.E.L.M. You’ll need to complete another Deep Dive, essentially running you through the exact same mission you just did.

Listen to the Conversation

With the Deep Dive done, head back to the H.E.L.M. and head towards Sloane’s portal. Hang out while the Drifter and the Iron Wolf have a little chitchat.

Give Coral to Sloane

When Drifter vanishes, walk through the portal. Sloane is waiting for you. Sloane will commune with Ahsa, and we’ll finally get a hint at what that Final Shape is. Leave through the portal.

Speak to Sloane at the Holodeck

Interact with the Season of the Deep vendor desk right beside the portal. Sloane will give you a glimpse into her past and her mental landscape. And that concludes our mission, at least for this week.

But that’s not all there is to do in the Deep Dives. A new week also means a new set of secret flora to collect for our aquarium. Check out how to get them here: All Abyss Depths Flora and Plants Locations in Destiny 2.
