How to Complete Catching a Flothinger in Palia

No one's getting in that box, Elouisa

Elouisa might have one foot in looney town, but she’s happy to pay. Here’s where to place the Flothinger Trap in Palia.

How to Complete Catching a Flothinger in Palia

If you speak to Elouisa after your escape from the Temple of the Gales, you’ll find that she has her eyes set on a new cryptid: the Flothinger. And while the Flothinger probably isn’t real, humoring Elouisa is a good idea, as doing so will net you 20 Renown, an improved relationship with our favorite cryptozoologist, and five Smoke Candles.

To jump-start this quest, find Elouisa and agree to help her catch the Flothinger. She’ll tell you to place the Flothinger Trap near Daiya Farm, near the cliffside. But beyond this, you don’t get much more guidance. Daiya Farm is the home of Badruu, who first gave you your seeds, and Auni, the young bug catcher and local mailman.

Daiya Farm is also just west of Kilima Village proper, a little north of Leafhopper Hills on your map. If you open your map during this quest, you’ll see that the farm is highlighted in yellow. But to find the actual place to put the Flothinger Trap, you’ll need to follow the trail north, towards Mirror Fields, and then climb the cliff overlooking the Daiya Farm. Once you’re here, you’ll see a small, glittering box that you can interact with.

Doing so will place the Flothinger Trap. Once that’s done, go and speak to Elouisa. She’ll tell you if the trap is successful… but just a few days, and she’ll send you a letter telling you that she’s still waiting on it to stumble in.

But that doesn’t mean your effort was a complete waste! Those Smoke Bombs she gave you make it easy to creep up on bugs, and it’s great for capturing rare insects like the Leafstalker Mantis. Or you can opt to do something a little easier, like complete A Small Wish in town.
