Is that you, Arthas?

The Black Knight is an exclusive boss in Path of Exile’s Settlers of Kalguur league. He brings new boss mechanics and new loot rewards that everyone should farm. You’ll rarely find the opportunity to fight The Black Knight, so when the day comes, you should always take the risk. Here’s how to find and beat The Black Knight in Path of Exile 3.25 Settlers of Kalguur.

Where to Find The Black Knight in Path of Exile 3.25 Settlers of Kalguur

The Black Knight spawns inside the Starfall Crater. If you frequently run maps, you might have seen a new area open up in a random location. The entrance looks like one of the Twisted Burrows from the Affliction League, which is also in Settlers of Kalguur.

The boss’s level is 83, so it is safe to assume that the Starfall Crater spawns in tier 16 maps. The Settlers of Kalguur league has added multiple mechanics that encourage players to explore the map more. You have the Nameless Seer, which gives a free random unique and the ability to scry maps, and the Starfall Crater, which can show up anywhere in the map.

The best way to find The Black Knight is to spam easy-to-run T16 maps, which increases your chances of finding the Starfall Crater. Avoid harder-to-explore maps, such as Maze, Dungeon, Cage, and other non-linear maps.

The Black Knight Boss Fight Guide in PoE 3.25 Settlers of Kalguur

You’ll have to fight The Black Knight head-on, alternating between two to three moves. He does a Whirling Blades attack (similar to the skill gem), where he dashes in a linear direction. When you are near The Black Knight, he does a swiping attack. The most dangerous attack for this phase is his 180-degree piercing projectile attack. If you have more than 3,500 max life while suppress and resist capped, you can survive one hit. If you don’t have any other defensive layers and you are below this threshold, you will die in one hit.

When the boss reaches 80% and 40% health, he becomes invulnerable. The Black Knight will summon some Verisium Pillars and attack you with a laser beam, all while shrinking the arena size. Go behind the pillars to dodge the beam. His laser will pierce through the pillar after a few seconds, and you should go to the next pillar when it happens. You’ll probably use three pillars until the boss stops.

At 60% and 20% life, the boss becomes invulnerable and summons a rock storm, in which Verisium Meteors fall from above. Dodge the rocks, and you’ll be fine.

After his last invulnerability phase, you’ll fight him again, but this time, the rock storm will continuously drop. If you have any culling mechanics in your build, this phase should be easy because it is close to the culling range.

If you die in any of the phases, you’ll spawn outside the entrance of the Starfall Crater instead of your hideout. You can re-enter and fight The Black Knight at whatever HP he has left. However, there was a time when I wasn’t allowed to re-enter the Starfall Crater after dying once. There was also a time when I entered the Starfall Crater four times, eventually beating the boss. It could be random or it could be that each phase gives you another retry.

The Black Knight Drops in PoE 3.25 Settlers of Kalguur

The Black Knight has a chance to drop the unique item, the Svalinn Girded Tower Shield. He also drops random runes, which are needed for Runesmithing in Kingsmarch. If you don’t plan on using these, you can sell them for currency.

The best reward from this encounter is the Verisium deposits scattered around the arena or crater. You’ll find a total of five Verisium deposits, including an extra large one. Mark or mine all the Verisium Ores and let your workers do the rest. These Verisium Ores are extremely valuable in Kingsmarch, so every time you see the Starfall Crater, you should try to fight The Black Knight.
