How to Beat Heismay in Metaphor ReFantazio

Finally, another member!

Heismay is the kidnapper you are chasing right after reaching Martira and offering to help out with their problems in Metaphor: ReFantazio. Once you are chasing down Heismay, you’ll eventually find him in the cave. There’s going to be some cutscene and you’ll ultimately fight Heismay, twice even. Here’s how to beat Heismay in both battles in Metaphor ReFantazio.

How to Defeat Heismay in Metaphor ReFantazio

Your first encounter with Heismay begins when he starts saving you from the human attack, but eventually, he’ll learn that you are pursuing him, which starts the first battle. The first battle isn’t that much special, but you’ll learn that Heismay is pulling his punches, implying that he might not be the kidnapper after all.

The first battle is easy Heismay doesn’t use his strong abilities yet. After beating Heismay for the first time, he’ll compliment you with your surprisingly non-igniter-fueled powers (as everyone has been saying) and escape from the battle.

Your party investigated Heismay’s possessions and came to the conclusion that he isn’t the kidnapper. You would confront Heismay again, but this time, nobody wants to tell the truth, and end up battling again.

In the second battle, Heismay unveils his secret Clone Art ability that spawns three mirror images of himself. These mirror images do the same moves, such as Dark Sword, Sandstorm, and Attack, with 100% efficiency. Basically, you are fighting four Heismays.

When Heismay does Clone Art, remember that he always does another attack when doing this. When Heismay splits, it spawns four images; hitting the wrong one will result in a “Block” but destroy the image in the process, giving you fewer choices on your next attack.

If you hit the original Heismay, all clones disappear, and you get a few extra icons, actions, or turns. Once the original Heismay is up, you can unload all your strongest attacks since he doesn’t really have a weakness or resistance. The tricky part in this phase is sometimes your party might be low on HP and you need to heal. When Heismay gets his turn, he attacks and uses Clone Art for the second time.

I suggest healing first before doing any damage. After going through the second Clone Art, he’ll take two or more turns before he does another Clone Art, giving you an opening to deal more damage. Without his Clone Art phase, he still does multiple attacks in a single turn, so you still need to keep your party healthy.

Try to survive as long as possible until you push through the second Clone Art phase. Use Guard when necessary and always have a healer archetype on the team. The whole fight is almost similar to the Spektos fight in the cathedral, where you face multiple targets at once.

After beating Heismay, he will surrender as your “prisoner,” but you will eventually convince him to join your cause after discovering the corruption in Martira. Go through the cutscenes, and Heismay will join your team. You can finally start arranging your party better since you have more than three members now.
