How to Beat Spektos in Metaphor ReFantazio

This is even harder than the Necromancer.

The Spektos is probably the most underwhelming but unexpected boss in Metaphor: ReFantazio. You go through all the trouble chasing the Necromancer in the cathedral, reaching the crystal and fighting the Spektos. These enemies are quite dangerous, so you need to prepare for the fight. Here’s how to beat those Spektos enemies in Metaphor ReFantazio and finally reach the Necromancer, Zorba.

How to Defeat the Spektos in Metaphor ReFantazio

You encounter the Spektos after finally reaching the crystal. This comes after a few more stages after rescuing the hostages and reaching the Reception Chamber.

The game warns you or asks you if you are ready to enter the chamber with the crystal. This usually means there’s a significant encounter incoming, which in this case is a boss fight. These Spektos are guarding the crystals, and you have to defeat them all. The battle starts with you fighting a whopping five Spektos.

The most crucial part of the fight is the beginning since you are dealing with five Spektos immediately, and you need to thin out the foes, or you’ll take immense damage in every enemy turn.

So, before you go through the door to start the battle, you want to switch out some archetypes.

Spektos Fight Guide – Spektos’ Weakness and Best Archetype to Use

Spektos is weak to Light-based damage or attacks, so you want to equip the new Brawler class you just unlocked from saving the hostages after forming a bond with Catherina. The Brawler class unlocks the Energy Ray Synthesis to have a “one-shot” skill. It is also best to purify your knuckles in the church (Grand Trad) so it innately deals light damage on attack.

You can even have two Brawler classes for the fight so you can spam the Energy Ray Synthesis to one-shot these Spektos. You must eliminate these Spektos quickly because they have the ability to multiply. A Spektos can cast Summon to create another Spektos, which can turn the tides of battle. However, I’ve never experienced them casting Summon if at least three of them are alive.

When the fight starts, you want to cast Energy Ray Synthesis immediately and eliminate one of them. You can attack a specific Spektos, so you have one target that you can damage multiple times with attacks if you are Synthesis combos aren’t ready.

In most cases, you’ll use guard, a defensive ability, or maybe Hulkenberg’s taunt if she remained a Knight archetype.

Defend when you have a character that can’t do damage since these Spektos reflect physical damage. A Spektos also has a dangerous ability called Last Resort, where it sacrifices itself to deal roughly 100 damage to every party member. You really can’t gauge when they are going to do this, so you want to keep your party’s HP above half at all times.

If you increase your Endurance stat, you’ll take less damage from these high-damaging attacks. This is why Endurance is one of the best attributes to increase since you can always play around weaknesses if you lack Strength or Magic attributes.

The last thing you need to worry about is the Curse Chant that applies Hex to everyone, which is annoying since if you rely on using a Synthesis attack, one member being hexed disables the attack. The Curse Chant misses most of the time, but it is going to debuff at least one of your party members.

Apart from these dangerous attacks, the Spektos will attack with Cyc and Gacyc, which deal wind damage. Once you beat the Spektos, you’ll continue your pursuit against the Necromancer.
