Compared to its contemporaries, StarRupture has a much higher focus on exploration and this often involves accessing areas with higher quality loot essential for progression, like underground caves. These caves are locked away by default and if you can’t figure out how to enter them, here is how that works.

Entering Underground Caves in StarRupture

The entrance to Underground Caves in StarRupture is covered in thick green vines that you cannot cut through or shoot off. To enter, the vines must be burned away, which happens automatically right after a StarRupture event.

After the entrance is cleared, you can drop down, and the drop isn’t that bad, so don’t worry about fall damage. Once inside, you’ll be able to extract different valuable materials like Quartz, Glowcap, potential dead bodies, and more.

I’ve only explored a few caves so far, but I imagine these get more complex as I venture deeper into Arcadia 7. Make sure to turn on your flashlight (and cycle between its modes if needed) while you’re exploring these caves for greater visibility.

Exiting the Cave

If the vines at the entrance grow back while you’re exploring, simply attack the red node in the cave and the vines will retract, giving you enough time to make your way back out using the dried-out vines. So take your time to loot everything in the cave; you can always climb back without a problem.

When you discover one of these caves during exploration, it is automatically marked on your map as shown below:

Ideally, you want to make a mental note of the caves whenever you find one and make sure to explore them right after a StarRupture event. Do not worry, you usually have plenty of time after the event before organic life returns in full on the planet.

While there is no rush, if you are seeing greenery developing on the outside, there is a good chance you are a bit late for some cave-diving, at least until the next StarRupture event.
