How to Play Elden Ring With Friends: Multiplayer Co-Op Guide

Elden Ring presents players with a stiff challenge, so there is no harm in playing some multiplayer co-op with your friends. The way this works is through the use of Summons. Players will place signs on the ground that allow other players to call them into their game to engage in some jolly cooperation.

The important thing to remember is that you cannot cross into a dungeon if you have summoned a friend to help, so make sure you do so before calling them in to help. Before we jump into the details, the most important thing to do is make sure you are playing online, which is set within the main menu when you initially start the game.

How to summon a friend for co-op in Elden Ring

To call in a friend, players will need to use an item called Furlcalling Finger Remedy. This is made using Erdleaf Flowers that can be found all over the game. Taking it will allow you to see white/yellow Summoning Signs that can be used to call in friendly players. You will need the Crafting Kit from Kale at the Church of Elleh in Limgrave to learn the recipe and make the item.

You can also use your own Tarnished’s Furled Finger to place a summoning sign on the ground, and a friend can then interact with it to summon you to their game.

How Summoning Pools work in Elden Ring

Summoning Pools are small statues that you can find throughout the game. Interacting with them will tell you that the summoning pool is now active. You can then use your Small Golden Effigy to send your summoning sign to multiple pools. This means you will get summoned to another game much quicker.

What are red Summoning Signs?

Red Summoning Signs means the person you can summon is looking to fight in PvP. PvP is a big part of Soulsborne games and a lot of fun. Some people will run specific fight clubs with rules, but in general, the PvP aspect is a bit of a free-for-all, so expect just about anything to happen.

How to just invite your friends

If you only want your friends, and nobody else, to be able to see and interact with your Summoning Signs, then you need to set up a password. To do this, go to the multiplayer section of the system menu. This way, only the person who has the same password set as you will be able to see your sign.
