Is There a Pet Number Limit for Stardew Valley?

As of now, there seems to be no limit on how many pets you can have in Stardew Valley. Following the 1.6 update, players can now adopt as many pets as they want in their houses by acquiring them from Marnie’s shop. You can do this as soon as you manage to maximize your initial pet’s friendship to 1000, which can be done by petting it frequently.

You can pet it once per day, so keep doing it until you get a message saying your pet loves you. This means its friendship is finally at its maximum, so head to Marnie’s shop to buy a new Bowl and a Pet License. You will be able to choose between any of the given pets in the game, including the newly added turtles!

The process can be repeated as many times as you want, and we haven’t found any limit for the amount of pets owned just yet. Some players claim to have adopted around 20 different little critters by now, so there might not be a limit at all other than the physical space required to fit them all in your tiny home. Don’t forget, each pet needs a personal bowl too, so the required space adds up fast.

Aside from having brand-new turtles roaming around in your house, you can now give hats to your pets. They won’t do anything, but they look way too cute, and that’s all that matters. This is the best time to become the cat lady you were born to be, so embrace this new identity!
