Resident Evil 4 Remake is here! The game based on the Capcom survival horror classic that changed the rules of the genre back in 2005 on the Game Cube is back – and it looks better than ever. However, many fans, old and new, wonder how similar this remake is to the original. For instance, does it retain its elaborate chapter/sub-chapter structure? Let’s find out how many chapters exactly are in Resident Evil 4 Remake.
How Many Chapters Are in Resident Evil 4 Remake?
The classic Resident Evil 4 had only six chapters, but they were divided into many sub-chapters, like in Mario World 1-1, 1-2… and so on. Many chapters of the original had four sub-chapters each, which greatly segmented the game. The new Resident Evil 4 Remake, thanks to the next-gen solutions of the RE Engine, has a slightly different gameplay and design that makes the chapters differently organized. In the remake, there are no more subchapters, although some trophies/achievements still bear their names as a tribute to the original game.

The completely new reimagined Resident Evil 4 Remake is now divided into 16 chapters, which have their own clear beginning and end, just like episodes. After each completed chapter, you will be taken to a results page where you may view statistics such as the number of deaths, the time it took to complete the chapter, as well as your overall rank. Between chapters, you can reorganize your stuff and save your game with the typewriter.
Although there is a lot more backtracking in Resident Evil 4 Remake than there was in the original game, each chapter still works as an episode in itself and is a great little dose of action if you don’t have a lot of time on your hands, because each one can be completed in about an hour or less.
