Players will find numerous locked chests in Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, all of which will open after completing the lockpicking mini-game. While the process differs from Dying Light, you should have little trouble picking Simple chests. Once you master the basic concept, you can move on to trickier (higher level) locks. It’s an easy way to put more gold in your pocket, along with clothes, weapons and other valuable items.
To pick locks in The Elder Scrolls Online, interact with the desired chest and the lock will appear on the screen. The goal is to bypass the five pin tumblers without breaking your lockpick. To make this especially challenging, you have a limited amount of time to do this. Example, a Simple chest will give you 25 seconds to pick the lock, while a Master chest will only give you 12 seconds. Naturally the more you practice, the less bothersome this will be.
Start by pressing and then holding the required button to push down each tumbler. It’s a delicate process, since you’ll need to press the button at the right time. Wait until the controller begins to vibrate and hit the button; basically, the point when the tumbler starts to wobble back and forth. When done correctly, the tumbler will grow dark and remain down as you move on to the next one.
Conversely, pressing the button at the worst moment will cause the lockpick to break and the tumbler will then reset. This should go without saying, but make sure you have plenty of lockpicks. You don’t want to pass up a chest because you ran out.
Now that you know how to lockpick, read about all of the races in The Elder Scrolls Online. When ready, beat the toughest enemies with this boss guide, and find all of the Skyshards in the game.
