Fortnite players have been experiencing a number of issues with Fortnite Crew lately, resulting in Epic Games offering a “Members Only” Emote for free as an apology. To help you out, we’ve put together a quick guide walking you through how to get the free Members Only Emote in Fortnite.

How To Get The Members Only Emote In Fortnite

The quick answer to the question of how to get the “Members Only” Emote in Fortnite is to be a Fortnite Crew member, and to simply log in between now and February 15. In doing so, you should get a notification that you’ve received the emote and are able to equip or claim the item. Above, we’ve embedded a video showing you what this Emote looks like.

On the right side of the notification screen informing you that you’ve received the new Emote, you’ll see the following information:

Emote [Rare]

Members Only

Are you in the club?

On the left side of the screen, you’ll see a message from Epic Games which reads:

“As a thank you for your patience, we’re granting all past and present Fortnite Crew members an exclusive new Emote called Members Only. Past, present, and new Fortnite Crew members will receive the Emote upon logging in anytime from now until February 15.”

At the bottom of the screen, you’ll see the options to equip or claim your Emote. Note that if you hit the “claim” button you’ll redeem the Emote, but will need to visit your Locker and add it to the Emotes you’re able to use in-game.

Strangely, some Fortnite players aren’t receiving this notification, but have actually received the Members Only Emote. To check if you’ve received the Members Only Emote, visit your Locker and in the Emote section, select an Emote slot and scroll through your available Emotes to see if the Members Only Emote is in there.

You can use the search bar and type “Members Only” or look for an Emote with the image of two people doing a secret handshake gesture. If it’s not in there, and you haven’t received the notification, don’t worry because you’re not alone.

Difficulty Receiving Members Only Emote

As of the time of this writing (January 15), we’ve heard a number of players report that they’ve been unable to get the Members Only Emote. That when logging in, no notification pops up, and there’s no Members Only Emote in their Locker. Some players have stated they’ve closed and restarted the game and have still been unable to collect the Emote.

This seems like an issue on Epic’s end, which isn’t surprising to hear given the Emote comes as an apology from Epic Games for past issues with Fortnite Crew items. Our suggestion here is to be patient and continue checking back to see if you’ve received the Emote notification after logging in, or checking to see if the Emote appears in your Locker.

If you like, you can also report the issue directly to Epic Games using the Reporting/Feedback section found in the game menu when pressing Esc. on PC, the touchpad on PlayStation, the Menu button on Xbox, or the + button on Switch. You can also visit the Fortnite Crew members support page as indicated by Epic Games in a recent blog post.

Given that Epic Games is giving the Emote away until February 15, there’s plenty of time for them to sort out bugs and issues with the Emote so that everyone who qualifies for it is able to collect it.

The Members Only Emote can only be collected by Fortnite players with a Fortnite Crew subscription, so if you haven’t joined Fortnite Crew yet, be sure to check out our guide where go over what Fortnite Crew is, how to subscribe, how much the subscription costs, what you get for it, and so on and so forth.

What’s nice is that Epic Games is giving the Members Only Emote to all past, present, and future Fortnite Crew members (as confirmed in their Jan. 14th blog post). That means that if you subscribe to Fortnite Crew on January 20 for example, you should be able to get the free Members Only Emote as long as you log into your account and collect it before February 15.

We hope this clears up any confusion regarding the Members Only Emote in Fortnite.
