In the new Blood and Wine expansion of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, you’ll need a good deck of Gwent cards to defeat your opponents. In this feature, we’ll tell you how to find the best Skellige Gwent cards to add to your collection.
Getting Started With Gwent Cards in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
First, you’ll need to head to the Pheasantry Inn in Beauclair so you can begin putting your Gwent deck together. Pay a visit to Count Monnier and take on the To Everything – Turn, Turn, Tournament! quest, and make sure you sign up. Don’t jump right in, though. The Count will give you a few Skellige Gwent cards that you can begin with.
Once that’s done, a new quest, Gwent: Never Fear, Skellige’s Here will open up, and you can mark it on your map to see where new Gwent challengers may arise, mainly in the form of merchants who set up shop in Toussaint. By taking them on and defeating them, you’ll earn a few more Gwent cards for your trouble.
Getting the King Bran Card in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
First up, you’ll be able to get the card’s location by defeating the Ducal Camerlengo in Gwent. Once that’s done, check the Knight’s Dormant Square in Beauclair.
This card will let your units lose only half their strength during poor weather conditions, instead of just taking the usual knock of 1 as usual in games. This can be helpful if you choose to play the Skellige Storm card during a game.
Getting the Cerys an Craite Card in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Once you beat the innkeep over at the Barrel and Bung Inn in Flovive, this card will be yours. You can find him in the village just over the river, within the east side of Beauclair.
With this card, you’ll have access to a strength 10 Hero that can summon Shield Maidens at any time for protection. She can also withstand damage from Weather or Scorch abilities with ease. In addition, Shield Maidens can be bonded together to increase their strength by two. Use these in your deck whenever you get the chance.
Getting the Ermion Card in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
You can get this card by taking down the Innkeep located at the Scarlett Cardinal Inn, southeast of Beauclair in Francollarts.
This card holds the Mardroeme ability, which can take any Berserker cards and turn them into more powerful Bear ones within your same row. It’s a strength 8 Hero card that doesn’t take damage from Scorch or Weather, ideal for surviving battle conditions.
Getting the Draig Bon-Dhu Card in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
You’ll get this card by going back to the Pheasantry Inn in Beauclair and taking on the local innkeep, and beating them in a round.
It’s not the strongest card out there, but it does include a Commander’s Horn ability, which can double the strength of any unit cards you may have in your row. It’s like the Dandelion card, but will apply more towards the Siege Row.
Getting the Kambi Card in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Head north of the Nilfgaardian Embassy in Beauclair and take on and defeat the Armorer.
This card holds a special Summon Avenger ability that, when removed and sent to the nearby graveyard, can create a devastating unit card that can sit in as a replacement. By using this, you’ll be assured a strong unit card for the next round.
Getting the Olaf the Bear Card in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Finally, get this card by taking on the innkeep at the Adder and Jewels Winery in Beauclair, which you can find by seeking out the Gran’place signpost.
This 12 strength unit card packs a punch, as it also contains a special Morale Boost ability. It punches up the strength of all your unit cards within the same row. You can also use it with Close Combat and Ranged Combat cards, depending on how they adapt.
With these cards in your deck, there’s no opponent you won’t be able to take on in Gwent in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt!
