How to Complete The Great Horn Heist in Final Fantasy XIV

Make it rain, kupo

From now until August 11, the Make it Rain Campaign event is running in Final Fantasy XIV. This is a recurring annual event, based all around the Gold Saucer. Make it Rain is especially notable as it’s one of the events in which you can earn a special, new hairstyle, the Rainmaker.

This is a highly sought-after cosmetic item, and all you need to do to get it is go through this event’s quest, The Great Horn Heist.

How to Complete The Great Horn Heist in Final Fantasy XIV

To kick everything off, you need to find Ollier at The Steps of Nald in Ul’dah. You’ll start the quest, then you’ll have to meet him at the Golden Saucer to get things moving. You’ll be put in charge of an investigation once you arrive, and you have to gather clues to crack the case.

To get clues, you have to find a set of NPCs and talk to them to get their testimony jotted down in your journal. The NPCs all have adjectives in front of their names, each one hanging out around various parts of the Gold Saucer. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of who and where you need to look:

  • Anxious Attendant – Manderville Lounge
  • Astute Attendant – Event Square
  • Brass Blade Recruit – Event Square
  • Blabbering Brass Blade – Entrance Square
  • Brusque Brass Blade – Wonder Square
  • Cheery Customer – Entrance Square
  • Choice Location – Entrance Square (this is a destination point rather than a NPC)
  • Effusive Attendant – Round Square
  • Frantic Attendant – Event Square

Once you talk to everyone, you’ll get a message that confirms as much. When you go back to Ollier you’ll also be warned you won’t get any help, and it’s up to you to choose the right options to solve the mystery. That said, you’ll get the same rewards no matter if you mess up or not. Still, if you’re worried about getting it right there’s no reason to, as long as you found all the clues the answer choice will be obvious. Otherwise they’re all gag answers.

Ollier will give you a voucher for 5,000 MGP, which just happens to be the exact amount needed to buy the Rainmaker hairstyle from the Modern Aesthetics vendor NPC hanging out by the prize counters. There are plenty of other things you can do with the MGP of course. More on that in a sec.

Once you cap off that quest, you can take a new one called A Token of Thanks. That one pops right up where you are and simply has you go speak to another character to get the “Vexed” emote. The other new goody you can earn as of this year is the Senorita Sabotender minion, which costs a whopping 21,000 MGP. Luckily, during the Make it Rain Campaign you get a 50% bump in rewards from Gold Saucer games.
