How to Catch a Dung Beetle in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Don't worry, they're not as stinky as they are in our world, but they do have similar habits. Here's how to catch a Dung Beetle in New Horizons.

There is so much to do in Animal Crossing: New Horizons that it can be overwhelming at times. For example, every month there is a fresh lot of bugs and fish that can be caught by players before they disappear the next month. Animal Crossing: New Horizons Dung Beetle: Month, Location, and How to Catch

While they may be known for collecting stinky substances in our world, in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you’ll find Dung Beetles hanging around snowballs. In the Northern Hemisphere, you can catch a Dung Beetle in December – February, while in the Southern Hemisphere you can catch them in June – August.

Further, you can find a New Horizons Dung Beetle at any time of the day, as long as they’re in season. As we mentioned above, you’ll find the insect rolling snowballs around your island during the winter months, and are generated randomly. So if you run around for a minute or two during a cold month, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding one. Additionally, if you don’t catch one with your net on the first go around, they won’t run away like some of the other bugs, so you’ll have plenty of chances!

To help out, we’ve created a handy table that will tell you everything you need to know about how to catch the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Dung Beetle.

Upon catching the stinky creature, players can either donate it to the museum or sell it for 3,000 Bells – which is a pretty good deal considering they’re easier to catch. However, there are some more expensive creatures coming to New Horizons in June, so if you’re feeling lucky you can try your hand at catching something like a Great White Shark.
