The long-awaited Legend of Zelda mainline sequel has finally arrived on the Nintendo Switch. As a direct sequel to the insanely popular Breath of the Wild from 2017, Tears of the Kingdom promises more Zelda action and exploration in the well-known “open air” style – this time including floating islands, combinable weapons, and even a return of Ganondorf. The hype is at an all-time high, and many players who haven’t gotten their copy of the game are wondering how much space they will need to free up on their Nintendo Switch consoles for this massive game – let’s find out.
How Big is The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Installation?
On the official Nintendo website, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is listed in the Nintendo Store section with some basic information, including the game file size – which is 18.2GB.

The new record-breaking game size will not concern Switch users who have additional memory in the form of SDXC microSD cards, which can increase the amount of free space available for game downloads up to 1TB. However, if you only utilize the Switch’s internal memory – which is 32GB – things can get tight; in that case, perhaps the physical edition of the game would be a better alternative.
