Honkai: Star Rail: How to Get a Guaranteed Ruan Mei Occurance in Gears and Gold

Not looking so rare anymore, huh?

Finding the Ruan Mei occurrence usually means an easy win for your Simulated Universe run in Honkai: Star Rail, but it’s literally the rarest one in the whole game mode. But players have discovered a new method that might guarantee that you’ll see it in every Gears and Golds run.

How to Always Encounter Ruan Mei in Gears in Gold in Honkai: Star Rail

Warning:

This method only works for Gears and Gold. It cannot be reproduced on regular SU, Swarm Disaster and any other alternative game modes. Although similar strategies can be applied, it won’t be exactly the same thing.

The Ruan Mei Occurrence can appear almost 100% of the time if you go through all other Abnormal Occurrences on the board. Once you do, enter an Abnormal Occurrence with the Triple or x2 beacon and Ruan Mei should be eventually available as an event choice.

If you don’t immediately see Ruan Mei, enter the “?” Occurrence and you should meet her. The Ruan Mei Occurrence has two parts you can find in any order.

Info is based on a video by MrPokke, where he compiled all data discovered by the community on the trick. It was originally believed to be a bug, but that has now been debunked as you’re only using the game’s mechanics to get what you want.

To put it more simply: you have to go through as many Abnormal Occurrences as possible. Once you exhaust all of them, Ruan Mei is forced to appear during that run.

Accomplishing this is easier said than done, but you can make it easier by choosing a specific Dice that helps generate and/or copy these domains in the Plane Board. The recommended option is the Domain: Custom Dice – Pursuit. Not only does it expand the two first Planes, but it also lets you jump directly to where the Occurrences are located, which is precisely what we want.

Some recommended Dice Faces are General: Attention, Domain: Self, and Domain: Creation. Any other faces that include things like jumping to a specific domain or generating Occurrences are also valid. Below are the options I used to get both Ruan Mei events:

Some Occurrences will keep on appearing regardless of what you do. These are Cheating Code (I) and Genius Society #55 Yu Qingtu. For Cheating Code, always pick the 100 Cosmic Fragments option or you’ll add Cheating Code (II) to the Occurrences pool (which makes meeting Ruan Mei harder). For Genius Society, just pick the first option twice and hope to get the correct drink Curio.

The reason why the domains need the Triple or x2 Beacons is to guarantee that other events won’t take Ruan Mei’s place. I was able to meet her twice in my run, but she was always accompanied by Cheating Code (I) in a Triple Occurrence: Abnormal room.

Ruan Mei Occurrence in Honkai: Star Rail Explained

One of the rarest and most powerful Occurrences in the game, the Ruan Mei Occurance can give you all the Blessings of a determined Path or get you 2000 Cosmic Fragments immediately. There’s also a Part 2 for this event, which either enhances all of your current Blessings, gives you 10 random Curios, or gets you 10 Cheating chances.

If you happen to have Ruan Mei herself on your team, you can pick both at once. This only applies to Gold and Gears, so always make sure to bring her if going for this strategy. Finding Ruan Mei means basically winning the run regardless of what happened, so give it a shot from time to time.

Once you meet Ruan Mei in Gold and Gears, all previous Occurrences will reset back and start appearing again, so you can just make your way to the final boss if you see fit unless you’re still on the grind for more special Curios or Occurrences, of course.
