Like many PlayStation 5 games, Helldivers 2 offers fans an opportunity to play in either Quality mode or Performance mode. We’ll tell you whether you should play in quality mode or performance mode in Helldivers 2 on PS5.
Should You Play Helldivers 2 in Quality or Performance Mode on PS5?
Helldivers 2 is an attractive game no matter which graphical setting you’re playing on, but if you’re hoping for the best picture imaginable, you’ll want to pick Quality Mode. There is a big drawback to this mode, however, — 30 Frames Per Second. You’ll be targeting 30FPS at pure 4K resolution, so the overall picture quality is going to look stunning, regardless of the type of television or monitor that you’re playing on.
On the other side of the coin, you’ll have the Performance Mode. This offers a 1080p experience at 60FPS — the game won’t look as sharp, but it runs at a smoother FPS making the gunplay feel more snappy and satisfying. After starting the game in the default Performance mode, I can’t recommend playing in Quality Mode even if you’re looking for the most picture-perfect display options available.
How To Make Quality Mode Look Great in Helldivers 2
While the drop to 1080p may be a bit of a bummer — was 1440p not an option here? — you can still make the game look rather fantastic on any display. There are a variety of graphical settings you can tweak in Helldivers 2 on PlayStation 5, and I recommend using the following:
- Camera Shake Strength – Personal Preference
- Vertical Field of View – Personal Preference
- Motion Blur – Personal Preference
- Depth of Field – On
- Quality Profile – Performance
- Anti-Aliasing – Off (TAA makes the game appear more Blurry)
- Sharpness – 1.00
It won’t be in full 4K like we may have hoped, but this will at least improve the overall look of the game and make it pop on your display alongside the crispy 60FPS to make squashing bugs and knock-off Terminators all the more exciting.
Will There Be a Future Patch for Helldivers 2 Performance?
As of now, we don’t have confirmation of a patch that will fix performance on Quality Mode. The developers of Helldivers 2 have been hard at work putting patches out to fix numerous technical problems in the game, including slight performance hiccups. However, for those looking for something more substantial, such as being able to play Quality Mode at a rock-solid 60 FPS, don’t get your hopes up. There’s no sign on the horizon that this will ever be a possibility, due to technology limitations.
