Grounded 2 was officially unveiled at the Xbox Games Showcase and is a direct follow-up to the survival game from Obsidian Entertainment. It’s a personal favorite of mine from the studio, and like the first one, Grounded 2 is also releasing in early access first and will go from there.

Here is everything you need to know about Grounded 2’s pricing, system requirements, and what you can expect in early access.

Grounded 2 Early Access Pricing

Grounded 2 will be available for $30 during early access.

The pricing will be the same on Steam and Microsoft Store, though I’m unsure at this point if it will have regional pricing like the first one.

Is Grounded 2 on Xbox Game Pass?

Yes, Grounded 2 will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass as a preview title, which is the tag used for early access releases on the Microsoft Store.

Like other first-party Xbox titles, Grounded 2 also has support for Xbox Play Anywhere, which means you only need to purchase it on one platform and access the game and your saves on other platforms where the Xbox App is available.

Is Grounded 2 Coming to PS5?

Currently, there is no announcement about Grounded 2 coming to PS5. However, the first Grounded eventually made its way to the PS5 after the release of its 1.0 version.

Grounded 2 might follow the same route and eventually come out on the PS5 after development has finished. I’m confident that after the success of the game on the PS5, Xbox won’t miss the chance to reach a bigger audience.

Compared to the first Grounded, the sequel has higher requirements, especially since it’s being developed on Unreal Engine 5 instead. While the developers haven’t shared the target resolution or expected framerate, you’ll need something like an RTX 3080 paired with a Ryzen 5 5600X for a decent experience at higher settings.

During its time in early access, the original Grounded did have some technical issues, but it was a much smoother experience near its 1.0 release. I hope that the sequel is in a much better shape from the get-go, as it’s building on something instead of starting from scratch. On the lower side, the minimum recommended GPU is the GTX 1070, which is starting to show its age these days, especially when it comes to Unreal Engine 5 titles.

Grounded 2 Release Date

Grounded 2 is coming to PC and Xbox Series S|X on July 29, 2025.

Grounded 2 is set in Brookhollow Park, and one of the key new features is the Omni-Tool that combines the hammer, axe, shovel, and wrench into one all-purpose tool. There are new and returning bugs, and the cockroach makes its debut in Grounded 2, and I’m already terrified. Arguably, the biggest new addition is that you’ll be able to raise buggies, which are essentially insect friends who you can ride, command in battle, and even direct them to gather resources.

Grounded 2 is shaping up to be exactly what I want from a sequel, and I can’t wait to start playing as soon as early access starts. I’m sure it’ll be a while before the full thing is out, but Obsidian Entertainment has proven before that they can handle this development model just fine.
